Essential oils are concentrated plant, herb, and flower extracts. Their ability to aid the healing process - whether it be physical
or emotional, has been recognized for centuries. And because they are soluble with the lipid membranes of cell walls, they can easily penetrate cells and quickly disperse throughout the body. In fact, essential oils can penetrate the blood-brain barrier;
many antibiotics cannot even do that.

Whether essential oils are applied to specific body parts, diffused into the air, or taken internally, most everyone can reap
the benefits of their healing gifts.

Studies have indicated that essential oils are powerful antioxidants. Antioxidants get rid of free radicals. A free radical is an
atom or group of atoms that are not bound to another chemical compound, making them highly reactive.

Essential oils have also been shown to be anti-fungal, anti-parasitic, anti-cancerous, anti-infectious, and anti-viral. Studies
have shown that essential oils destroy all tested viruses and bacteria. When essential oils are diffused, they increase oxygen
while removing toxins from the air. They also promote healing of the body, mind, and spirit.

or chronic conditions. A Reiki session with or without therapeutic essential oils is not a substitute for medical or psychological treatment.
Essential oils are best placed on a body part that has been washed with warm water only; products such as soap and cosmetics,
especially those that are petroleum based, can cause adverse reactions when the essentials oil is applied. Symptoms such as skin
irritation and headaches are such adverse reactions, and the user would need to discontinue use and seek treatment.
